It's appeal year: Radio Heatherwood needs to raise £10,000.to install a new transmission system. The appeal is launched on 14thJanuary.
The idea of the system was to provide a service in all patient care areas to supplement the ailing stethoscope headset system. An application to the Windsor Council in Nov 1986: proves fruitful with the award of £6700 towards the project.
The appeal gains major support from local fund raising groups with large donations coming from the local Baptist church and local trust funds.
A special record donation leaflet was produced by the radio. A local scouts, and guides delivered them to local housing estates.
A record released this year; that became the anthem for the appeal: Labi Siffri's, So Strong.
In February; the Windsor lions officially open the new 1ibrary/reception.
In March Dave and PJ visit 210 to broadcast the details of the new transmission system and the need to raise the £10'000. By April the target is almost reached.
A new appeal of a further £8000, is launched. The purpose to replace the studio equipment.
The first staff news letter was printed to inform staff of the progress of the appeal.
Radio Heatherwood loses one night of broadcasting due to a lack of presenters. (Five nights only).
The league of friends treasurer Pat Field stood down this year and station manager Dave Smith took over as treasurer.
The former chairman of the League of friends and of the radio station resigns due to outside commitments (Ron Mason).
In September a new fund raising venture for the radio is a coach trip to South Devon. The Charity Buzz:£583 realized.
Ron Allen from Radio 210:drew the prizes at this years charity night. Trevor Kensall was appointed Public Relations officer, for the radio station.
The year ended with the closure of the second appeal and a target of £2216 realized.
