In preparation for this years fete it was decided to consign the Alice mixer to the bin and replace with a new eagle eight channel mixer to use on the fete pa stand. In February this was purchased.

In March the first newsletter was produced by the secretary on his own computer.

The first rule book produced for staff on the computer was published in a much easier format. (Code of Conduct).

The first birthday of Radio Heatherwood on the medium Wave: sees the completion of the computerization of the station library. The keying in of the information from August 88 till March 1989. All the computer entries were handled by the station manager. A donation of £1000 by the Ascot Fire Brigade trust provided the computer for the station. The official hand over by the Ascot Fire Brigade trust took place on the 6th April.

An associate of the secretary,Scott Cowie represented the radio station in the half marathon this year raising much needed funds for the second studio project £120.

The service supplied to the Emi unit by cable to the radio rack in the roof was discontinued. The rack for this unit is not accessible for repairs by the station.

An ambitious public relations exercise by the Management team secures a donation of £3600,for the purchase of a second broadcast console.

The former Governor of the Falkland Islands Sir Rex Hunt opened the fete this year. The fete was held this year on a Sunday; opening at two o/clock, rain by three o/clock. In a spate of absent-mind ness by P J. :The introduction of Sir Rex Hunt commenced With " Who Is He " OOPS!.

On 8th June this year a special meeting of radio staff were informed of the purchase of the second Chilton console, and the need to raise the additional money during the fund raising season so that work could start in September on the new studio.

At the end of June the station secretary stopped broadcasting to concentrate on the fund raising and building of the second studio.

A new information leaflet was produced by the manager on the stations library computer the first of the home produced leaflets.

The station was pressing very hard for more space from the hospital management, but to no avail.

The advertising campaign for staff in the local free papers produced a large influx of staff to the station.

A donation was received of £100 from a grateful patient for the marvellous radio service.

On September 30th the start of the conversion of the library/reception area to accommodate the production studio: Studio 2.

The first supplements to the rule book were published with deletions as well. The changes which are implemented is thru presenters causing problems or necessitating changes in working practices.

In October this year BMW donated £250 for the second studio project.

The Ascot Rotaract have a duck race, and monies are donated towards the second studio facilities, £300.

A special Christmas broadcast from 210; especially for children in local hospitals, was assisted this year by our own presenter: Gordon Young.

Grand Draw Prizes 1989

At the end of February each year the station secretary would send out letters to local businesses to try and secure prizes for the draw. The portable television was always purchased

1989 Grand Draw Ticket Selling

The Grand draw played an integral part of the fundraising each year for the radio station. At a time when money was needed for various projects, the grand draw delivered every time.
