August
3rd August Ward Report
Ward open tonight but a little quiet. We issued one radio and earphones to a lady who was absolutely thrilled. We had a chat with another lady who might have been up for a loan radio but we couldn't offer her one as the 3 sitting on the shelf still have power leads missing in action.
Radio Heatherwood on the Internet Staff Bulletin Board
The first draft of the training companion for our new live assist program for internet broadcasting is released. This will be a new learning for all of us and we have a long way to go.
Two PC's have now been re-built with the new programs and work is continuing on some interface issues with the rhapsody service and live sessions.

Studio one, now does not have a pc as it has been removed to be rebuilt with the new software etc. It means at the moment no studio has access to broadcast with a pc. I am hoping that by the end of October this will be rectified with both studio's back to normal use.I will keep you posted.
Back to TopOctober
Internet Project Staff Bulletin Board
I am pleased to report Studio One is now ready to be used for training.
I have more or less completed all the required tasks with both computers which will allow you to get some practice in on radioDJ. I have some config tasks to do as well as set up the termite training option. This will happen in the coming weeks in the meantime have play.Studio 2 has an annoying power to go screen, keep appearing I will rectify next week.
31st October
Internet Project Staff Bulletin Board
I have today completed the installation of two light sensors in the studio's and a relay box in engineering which will interrupt the data signal from the rhapsody computer to the instreamer streaming device. This interrupt is critical for you to do, your live shows and send your metadata to the instreamer and not rhapsody.
The next stage is to get all the pc's talking to the instreamer and new software loaded on rhapsody with a complete new program schedule for rhapsody along with a new mp3 database.
Still loads to do.
November
Internet Project Staff Bulletin Board
Second data switching relay box is completed.
9th November Ward Report
A mixed bag tonight. One couple took the Wi-fi details for later but another 2 patients said they had 4G instead.
The staff radio was in use but we discovered that the plug from one of the other radios had some exposed wires that had been sellotaped over so we brought it back to the station. The other 3 radios are also plug less so we thought we might as well bring those back too.
In other news, Jenny and I discussed whether or not Doctor Who's companions age during the time they spend traveling?.
Internet Radio Removal
The removal of the Internet radios from ward 4 is unfortunate
but loss of plug top power supplies means we are not able to
replace
as radio's are no longer made.
December
Internet Project Staff Bulletin Board
A new local area network for the radio studio with PC's divided into their own LAN group is wired during December and completed.
Sending Artist Information to Internet.
The three computers which will be used to deliver the internet radio stream must have the ability to send the artist info(metadata) for any item it plays. The picture across shows four stages of a display with the Radio Heatherwood jingle followed by Enya.
Back to Top2015 was a very busy year for the station management and as the year unfolded there was much to do and organise

Connected 2013 - 2015
The service was launched in 2013 and now has completed it's Third year, we are now able to show all figures and see the improvement in the amount of users year on year.
Total Usage Hours 2015
In 2014 the total hours for the year was 18,504.In 2015 it has dropped slightly to 17,059 hours lower than the previous years usage.
Data Downloads and Uploads
The measure of how long users are staying connected and the amount of data exchanged is shown in the following images.
A loss of data during February August and December contributed to the lower figures.
The year started with the devastating news about the movement of ward 4 and kiss goodbye to our only listeners on the Wi-Fi. Our only saving grace has been the delay in the ward move taking place, 12 months on and the move still hasn't taken place.
2015 will be remembered for the change of fortunes for the station as well as the hospital. The December magazine from the Frimley health trust carries positive options for the hospital site, this includes 6 operating theatres 48 in patient beds and 16 day case beds, outpatients and diagnostic facilities.
The new trust after one year is making a difference for the staff and morale of all those involved with Heatherwood.
Our own commitment to the future is the introduction of a radio stream on the internet. Throughout this year we have been busy laying the ground work to launch the service sometime in 2016.
The wi-fi service is still regularly used by the staff and patients of ward 4 however at the end of the year we have had to remove all but one of the internet radio's due to theft of the mains plug top units, which is disappointing for us as we know it's now impossible to find a replacement as the radio's are no longer made.
We are positive about the future and are looking forward to delivering our new on-line radio stream.
We still don't know how this is going to pan out, but for the meantime it's business as usual!.
Those making a difference and maintaining Radio Heatherwood are Dave Smith, PJ Davidson-Smith, Ian Butcher, Katie Ayers,Jenny Gallagher.
Our sincere thanks go out to all our volunteers and the league of friends for their continued support.
