Stethoscope Headset Listening System

In April and May a survey was carried out of the old bed head plastic stethoscope system to see what was available for patients to use.

The survey revealed some frightening results.

If we were to take the figures as they are: we would find that at any one time only 31 people can actually listen to the radio services on the bed head system throughout the hospital out of a possible 209: of which 22 patients would have to be on ward 8.

In reality this figure of 31 will be lower because the plastic headsets are not at the bed of someone who wants to listen added to which although we have counted 31, these are also damaged with the ear pieces missing etc. This puts the patient off from using the facility.

It's a damning report of the failure of the maintenance of the bed head system and clearly shows the reliance which has now been placed upon the inductive loop AM facility.

The station also received 6 donations of records cd's and tapes.

A poster advertising possible designs to celebrate 21 years of Radio Heatherwood asking presenters to choose their design for a sweatshirt fails to encourage support. The idea is scrapped.

Only two newsletters are produced this year due to a lack of stories & support. The year also failed to produce written support from former patients.

Only one letter is received from a former patient. The lowest ever.
