At the end of 2005 work was under way to design a new tee shirt logo to celebrate our thirty years.
When we previously had placed orders for shirts the company wanted a minimum order qty, working on this information trying to get presenters to show an interest and indicate how many they would want was as usual extremely hard to motivate.
In January we started looking for a new company to supply not only tee shirts but polo and sweatshirts.
The first company who supplied a completed sweatshirt obviously did not process the image properly and the design on the sweatshirt could not be read.
A new company chosen was Thread bear embroidery, an excellent sample was received and they were very helpful. In the end we ordered 47 shirts of various types and eight bears.
The company would supply a small bear wearing a small tee shirt with your logo on. This proved appealing and one of the bears was adopted as the mascot for the radio.
The order was placed at the beginning of March and by the end of March the order was received and presenters were encouraged to wear their shirts whilst on the wards.
Back to TopOnly one local paper carried the news story about our 30th Birthday.
It was disappointing for us as memories of times gone by were re-kindled, where events and deeds received no coverage.
The introduction of the on line bulletin board for presenters already paid dividends as presenters shared their feedback from ward rounds.

Jul 16th Thank you from Mary on ward 4
Just to let you know when Katie and I were doing the ward rounds on Thursday a lady called Mary on ward 4 told me she was being discharged that day and therefore didn't want a request.
She then went on to tell me she had made a few requests during her stay and that Radio Heatherwood had been a constant source of comfort for her when she wasn't up to feeling sociable with the other patients on the ward.
She congratulated us all on our volunteering efforts and said it was a very good thing we did indeed......

Dec 21st Grace Ainley Writes
I have today received a Christmas Card from Grace Ainley who was in Heatherwood earlier in the year She Writes:-
Hello Peter Wishing you all a very Happy Christmas. I was in hospital some time back, was very nice having the radio by the bed. Thankyou So Much For Your Excellent Work
Yours Sincerely Grace Ainley.
In addition to her kind words, was a donation of £10, it's nice that we were in her thoughts at this time of the year.
The name seemed familiar to me and I wondered how she knew my home address. I checked back in my archive and Grace Sponsored a Loan radio in 1996 after a stay in the hospital.
Back to Top2006 was a very busy year for the station management and as the year unfolded there was much to do and organise

The month of June given over to the sounds of the seventies as the radio service celebrates 30 years was in the planning from 2005.
Each team night were allocated particular years and would research for trivia inserts for their years.
Work behind the scenes compiling the trivia and producing the liners and trailers for the programs started in March.
In support of the programs for June 200 leaflets were run off and distributed to the patients.
Welcome to our Picture board
Some captured moments of our volunteers, during this year.
This year saw the completion of training for a brand new broadcast team on Thursdays, staff bulletin board is introduced, improvements to the station library and the rebranding of the sound of Radio Heatherwood.
The training of presenters continued this year and subtle changes were taking place to the training as we gained more knowledge of what works what doesn't. The success for us was the re-opening of Thursdays.
New applicants applying for posts as in previous years, still offering limited time availability. Nobody indicating Fridays Saturdays, only usually for Mondays or Tuesdays.
The most significant change for us this year was the change to the jingle package and the re-branding of the sound offering a day time and night time image of different tempo's which was well received by our listeners.
Radio Heatherwood was still moving forward and changes being made continued throughout the year.

Just some extra's we found:-
The new tee shirt logo was printed off and placed around the studio's to remind presenter's.
Over the years keeping staff up to date with news about the
station changes to procedures and general information has been
an up hill task.
We tried notice boards , posters newsletters, email
newsletters.
All have their pluses or minuses, but the one thing which makes them fall down is their not instant.
In March 2006 We were investigating the possibility to set-up an on line bulletin board. The change of ISP's the previous year would now allow us to host one on our web site.
By the beginning of May we were ready to launch with the presenters bulletin board.
We chose YABB which was a free service and stands for yet another bulletin board.
The bulletin board has been a success and has provided a more instant access for everyone.
In 2011, the board had generated the following:- Total Topics:1383, Total Posts:4848
In July a set of guidelines are written into the operations manual as part of the review of practises regarding ward rounds.
In October a new set of guidelines are issued for staff with the music library, as changes are made to show every record has now been categorized.Over 50,000 song titles are given a category.
In October Katie Ayers, Ian Shephard, Ian Butcher, spent four Wednesdays evenings learning the art of jingle making using the computer.PJ & Roge delivered the training and the Wednesday evenings became their training night until February 2007.
