Radio Heatherwood Presenters Information Bulletin Board
2006 - 2016
It's May 2006 and a move away from emails and onto a bulletin board.
It's May 2006 and a move away from emails and onto a bulletin board.
A game changer this year was the introduction of the bulletin board at the beginning of May,this improved communication with the volunteers and enabled much more feedback sharing from the wards.
The move to a bulletin board was prompted by the need to deliver regular weekly messages on operational issues and the need to communicate to new trainee's all the aspects of the radio.
We also wanted to try and stimulate a team effort in providing the radio service. An exchange of ideas and chit chat made an individual more aware of their role in delivering the service and also make new friends on other nights other than their own.
Over the early years it was word of mouth, then perhaps a note left in the tray for inclusion in the newsletter. A lot of feedback went un-recorded until the introduction of the bulletin board.
During the first few months of the bulletin board over seven comments were made aware to others.
All the patient feedback is already displayed on the following web pages:-
At the end of 2009 all recruitment was suspended and news that the station would be bulldozed did not give us encouragement to take anyone new on.
Feedback from 2010 onwards was limited due to the reduction in the availability of listeners. In 2011 Ward 4 closed and moved into the old ward 10 which had laid empty for a number of months and Hospicom had already removed all the bedhead terminals and cut the cables to their equipment room.No Listeners From this ward.
At the end of 2012 a new wi-fi service was provided on ward4 and this allowed us to deliver a new service. This generated a number of patient feedbacks, which are listed on the pages for 2013,2014,2015.
The beginning of 2016 and the radio staff are down to just three and whilst preparations are still under way to provide a truly internet listening service, the hospital trust pull the plug and refuse to renew the lease for the radio.
No backups of the bulletin board exist beyond September 2011,the decline in services and staff from this period brought to an end the recording of thanks for a dearly loved radio service.
