May 25th, I have updated the gift allocation totals on the
league web site along with some other updated information.

for wards and department's, this raises the total to
£271,144.75, 362 Projects.
Now in our 51st year, the league continues to prosper.
Ward 7G Is No More.
May 29th, The following reply comes from an internal memo to
trust staff after I raised the question about the ward
closures:-
The current situation in the trust - the need to move to
single site medicine combined with the financial situation,
has resulted in some changes that we have to make
immediately.
There has been a review of the two site medicine plan. It
had been planned to move Ward 16 to Wexham later in the
year, but due to problems with securing a new unit and the
financial constraints, a decision has been made to bring
forward the move. In order to meet the deadline of 1st
August, Ward 16 needs to close on Friday to enable the move
to happen within the timescale needed. Therefore Ward 16
will close on Friday 22nd May. As a result of this, MAU will
move to Ward 10 which will become a combined MAU/Medical
Ward. Ward 17 at Wexham will reopen on Friday 22nd to
accommodate patients.
With the current financial situation, we also need to take
radical steps to make further cost improvements, and will be
looking at the profitability of all specialties.
As a result of the very low bed occupancy in gynaecology at
Heatherwood, ward 7G will also be closing on Friday 22nd and
the Gynaecology patients will move to Ward 1Surgery. In the
interim, staff on Ward 7G will move to Ward 1S, and further
discussions with staff and HR will follow.
With the need to make further cost savings across the
trust, we will be closely reviewing all areas, and can not
rule out further changes.
I appreciate that this is very short notice for these
changes and I do understand that this is a very difficult
time for all staff.
