The Bracknell news contacted the station the first week in January to
inform us the free advert carried in the paper was to be withdrawn due
to the financial climate.
The first Sundays in January the manager interviewed the applicants
who responded to the advert for staff placed in the newspapers during
December.
The station engineer repaired the three channels on the Emi rack after
18 months of silence.
Studio one re-opened during January and the station engineer PJ.
returned to programs after an absence of four months.
In February the station started a poster campaign to doctors surgeries
in the area. The poster extolling the virtues of the 24 hr request
line is an attempt to make more people aware of the service.
The loan radio service is under revue during February and the supply
of batteries is to stop in March.the service is to be extended to
wards four and five.The loan radio's will also be left inside each
locker. The sponsored units has risen to 82 units, at the end of
February.
In March BMW support the radio with a donation of £100. The twelve
radio's donated by the family and friends of Zola Newton are placed on
ward one.
New look permanent posters have been posted around the hospital two
style's one for wards with loan radio's and one for wards and general
areas.
One of the doctor's surgeries who received the poster during February
is regularly ringing the studio to place requests for patients who are
from their surgery. Dr Baines Windsor.
The Grand Draw prize list for this year closed at the end of March
with 26 prizes donated.
1992 Year Sixteen Story Unfolds
1992 was a very busy year for the station management and as the year

In April Boehringer Ingelhiem donated £50 the accompanying letter from
a Mr Derek Robinson refreshed our memories of one of the earliest
presenters at Radio Heatherwood.Derek was the first program
controller.
Daler Rowney donated £50 this month.Donations from companies has
increased during the early months of this year due to the efforts of
the new community relations appointment of Keith Smith.
A toy fair organised for the League of Friends by Taffy Evans raises
£220 of which Radio Heatherwood received £50. The Ascot News ran an
article on record donations for the station.
A new logo design for sweatshirts has been designed by the secretary.
The first supporters trip this year left for Warwick castle on Easter
Sunday.One passenger turned up late and missed the trip.
On Easter Bank Holiday Monday a member of the radio staff Lee Henty
helped the squirrel public hse with a fundraising day which raised
£1542:12 for the hospital,this was given to the heart unit.
The Wrvs contacted the station in April and the station has made a
promo tape for their trolley shop.
At the end of April the station has 17 presenters.
Hfc trust support the station with a donation of £250 in the same week
Robsons in the high street donate £20.
The medium wave service on the hospital expanded it's coverage this
week 12/5 when a new aerial was installed on the new day surgery ward
built next to the switchboard. This brings the total to 31 and is the
first addition to the service since it was installed in 1988. By the
way the expansion was funded by the hospital.
On Bank Holiday Monday Keith Smith Community Relations man went to
meet the community of Kent arriving from 10,000ft strapped to another
man.The reason for this lunacy was to raise funds for his favourite
radio station £100 was the money raised by sponsorship.
The Charity Buzz on Bank Holiday Sunday left for Matlock Bath with 82
fare paying passengers.The weather was kind and a good day was had by
all. At the end of the day a lady who is one of the regulars handed
David an envelope.When he opened it the following day it contained a
donation of £100. A nice touch which brings the total for the day to
£930.
This month we sent out fourteen posters promoting the request service
to all the libraries in the area.
The car boot fair on 6th June raised £404 for the league down on last
year . A twelve hour broadcast 8am to 8pm took place.In the evening
the station received a visit from Derek Robinson first program
controller for Radio Heatherwood. Derek praised the present management
and staff for making Radio Heatherwood a professional set up.
The station received a £50 donation from Logic automation.
On Sunday 21st June the supporters group went for a day trip to the
seaside( Weston-Super-Mare )This raised a further £130 for the
station.
At the end of June presenters started to wear the new look sweatshirts
with the new style logo( A friend by your side ).
July to September
On Sunday 12th July a toy fair was organised by Taffy Evans and the
station benefited by £50.
A new style banner designed by the station secretary has been
purchased and is being used for promotional purposes.
The station received a donation of £150 from the Sunninghill Fuel
Allotment trust.
On 26th July the supporters group had a trip to the Cotswold's and
raised £110 for the radio.
Bracknell bandstand this year during fundraising season reverberated
to the sound of Radio Heatherwood on Saturday 15th August when music
was relayed to shoppers recorded by the presenters.
Sunday 23rd of August and the Radio Heatherwood supporters group spent
the day at Eastbourne.
The last outside ticket venue this year was at the charity stall in
Bracknell market this a first for the radio station raised over £130
for the station selling old records and bric-a-brac.
The league of friends agm this year passed without any incident unlike
the previous year. Gordon Young was elected to sit on the main
committee of the league of friends representing the radio staff.
This years charity night was held at the station hotel and the station
manager and secretary received a presentation of a small gift from the
staff of Radio Heatherwood for their commitment and decision not to
quit in the face of the actions of the famous five at last years agm.
The station starts broadcasting information supplied on special cue
sheets detailing events in history etc.
The sixth revision of the code of conduct is issued to presenters.
Dr Baines Surgery in Windsor continues to support the request line
with regular calls to the studio and donation of an Elvis Presley cd
for the station.
Batteries for the loan radios are changed to the red seal type and
priced at £1 ea.
On Saturday November 7th the station increased it's broadcast hours
starting at 5pm with special taped programs aimed at the over 50's.
On Monday 9th November the chairman of the Heatherwood and Wexham park
trust visited the radio studio's and commended the work of the
volunteers on the radio.
The studio log came in for a revamp this month with all the various
checks etc to transmitter loan radios and prizes all consolidated in
to one log.
The weekend break this year for the supporters group went to Llandudno
in North Wales over forty people spent the weekend brushing up on the
welsh language and customs.
On the same weekend the holding service on the medium wave was changed
to Radio Two along with the revision of the bed head system.

Channel Three & Loan Radio's Radio Two & Radio Heatherwood.
Channel Four Radio Four.
Two more former patients donate money for loan radio's Pamela Rose and
Neil Gordon.
In early December the studio battery bag complete with £34 was mislaid
or Stolen by person or persons unknown.
The league of friends meeting on 7th December 1992 approved the
purchase of mugs to be given away as prizes in 1993.
On 11th December Keith Smith the community relations officer resigned
after quoting stress as the deciding factor.
The year ended with Roger Hawkes & Tom Beaumont Making plans for
next years Sweethearts ball,Dave Smith making plans for the coming
RHSG trips for 1993.
