Hospital Radio Heatherwood Promotion 1992

1992 was one of those years which was packed full of events and deeds which generated a lot of interest in the radio. Radio Heatherwood was out in the community publicised it's services.

This page details some of those events which generated copy in the local papers and also generated new promotional materials.

Toy Fairs

Three toy fairs were organised through the year, PC Taffy Evans. Click to Enlarge:-

One of the events organised this year was a new venture. This came about through the help of local bobby Taffy Evans.

Three fairs were organised for April July and October and this raised much need funds for the radio service.

The Radio Heatherwood supporters group continued to flourish with eight trips organised by the Manager Dave Smith.

Monies raised from the trips were a welcome boost to the radio stations funds.

Each year a new diary would be published listing the trips available.

The final trip of the year was a weekend break in Llandudno
Bop While You Shop

As part of the Grand Draw Ticket selling this year it was decided to provide music at the Bandstand selling venue this year.

Throughout the day tapes of half hour programs were played from the band stand to all passing shoppers.

Car Boot Fair

This years fete was replaced by a car boot fair. As well as stalls by station staff, the car boot side of the event was organised by the manager with some help from family members.

The radio Station provided a twelve hour broadcast of special programs throughout the day.
Grand Draw

The grand draw still the essential fundraiser for the station once again was the event for the late summer. All presenters played a part in ensuring tickets were sold at the hospital as well as high street venues.

This year included Sainsbury's at Birch hill .
Charity Stall

The Bracknell market charity stall was used this year. Old records and bric-a-brac donated by staff friends and family was displayed and sold on the stall.

Those visiting the stall were greeted with some unusual items on sale, including Tom cruise's boxer shorts Maggie's hand bag

Parachute Jump

Keith Smith from Saturdays raised money for the station by agreeing to do a tandem parachute jump.

This raised further funds for the station as well as generating some good publicity for the station.
