Some captured moments of our volunteers, during this year.
1992 was a very busy year for the station management and as the year unfolded there was much to do and organise

Back to TopOften asked was how much time do we spend in providing the radio service. The information sheet here was collated by the station secretary and displayed on the internal notice board for everyone to see
I think a lot of people were astounded by the results of the investigations
The voice box notes were a briefing sheet which was added to each broadcast studio.
These were updated on a regular basis and allowed presenters to voice the item in their own style.
This edition carried promotions for loan radio problems, trolley shop, toy model & fair, new presenters and loan radio batteries, and promotion of the medium wave service.
This edition comes from September 1992
The monthly staff newsletter was started in 1987, over the years it took on many different forms.
In 1992 the newsletter was produced by the station secretary each month.
On most occasions the newsletter ran to two pages of A4 and was produced using Timeworks desk top publishing software.
Staff contributions were left in the secretary's tray. The newsletter was the best way of keeping the staff updated with all what was happening.
This year we changed the sweatshirt design.
Burgundy sweatshirts were purchased for all presenters who paid their monies.
The following booklet was compiled by Gordon Young as part of a welcome package which would be issued to volunteers.
The booklet contained contact information and information on all aspects of the radio service complete with FAQ.
Not sure whether any were issued to trainees.
1992 started with the remaining staff under a great deal of pressure to maintain the service in the aftermath of the previous September 1991.The continued support of presenters; provided a tremendous boost to the management.
This year was a year to rebuild the confidence and commitment of the staff, and to move forward with new staff. The quality of staff thru the door this year has made operations easier.
On charity night this year the manager and secretary received a surprise with the presentation of a small gift for all their hard work and their strong will to carry on, after the previous year. The surprise gesture by staff is the best kind of present the management could receive.
Radio Heatherwood continues to explore new ideas and with the right people will ensure a quality Hospital Radio Service for the patients of Heatherwood.
The patient feedback letters this year are the testimonials to the service we all provide:-

Just some extra's we found:-
Under the studio 2 console was an ever expanding wiring links for both studio's.
The latest introduction of talk back between both studio's had added a large amount of connections, wire and interface boxes.
The picture above and below, shows the connections before the addition of talk back.
During the month's of November & December PJ Could be found cramped under the console soldering and installing the required connections.
The benefit of the talkback allowed a presenter in studio one to talk directly into the headphones of the presenter in studio two and visa-versa.
The introduction of the talkback allowed for smoother presenter handovers.
Turned up this year whilst emptying old boxes etc, was this bookmark
The bookmarks along with keyrings were sold around the wards to raise funds back in the late seventies early eighties.
