A Christmas card is received by Radio Heatherwood from long stay patient Margaret Powditch She Writes:-
With our grateful thanks to you all for all your hard work coming out into the bitter cold to visit all the wards, getting our many requests and keeping us all very happy, contented and often amused too. In the ward 4 we all salute your many talents etc and pray they may continue with all new patients coming in for Christmas etc.
I myself have had great pleasure in listening to all your team, so thanking you all. God Bless you all and have a lovely Christmas from Margaret Powditch and all the other very grateful patients in our lovely ward 4," The best ward in Heatherwood ".
December
The station said goodbye this month to Bruce Crosland from Mondays. Bruce had been with the station for seven years and was a firm favourite with the patients.
Bruce has moved back to his house in the country.
" Devon hospital radio watch out Bruce is Back ".
September 1st
This week the long awaited update to the web site makes an appearance.
The station engineer who maintains the site has been on the receiving end of hospital care and has been laid up for 4 month's During the forced rest he has been able to take a radical look at the site and the results are published today.
The first web site for the radio made it's appearance at the end of March 2000. In the first year over 400 visitors found the site. In addition the site has provided us with 5 volunteers.
July 31st
This week Alan Martin a former patient of ward 10 donates £50 for five new loan radio's. This raises the total on the wards to 281 issued.
The radio staff are always pleased to receive new sponsors as it ensures enough radios are available for future patients.
Our thanks goes out to Alan and we are glad we were able to make his stay that more enjoyable.

June
The radio service put up the decorations today as we celebrate 25 years service to the patients of Heatherwood. Programs were broadcast from 10am till 6 pm and along the way we looked back over the last 25 years.
At 1pm the studio’s were officially opened by the chief executive of the trust Margaret Edwards. Margaret was a guest on the midday show with Roger Hawkes and took the opportunity to thank all the volunteers and the radio for it's achievements and wished us well on behalf of the patients and the hospital trust.
April 21st
Station Manager Dave Smith & Radio Secretary Peter Davidson-smith were nominated for awards in the Winkfield Parish Council Parish "People Awards 2001".
The awards are given to local individuals or charity groups who were considered to deserve recognition for their community activity.
David & Peter have worked for the league of friends over the last 21 years to ensure the continued service of the hospital radio service and in the work of the main league ensuring continued support for the league and the hospital.
David & Peter accepted certificates at the council meeting on Tuesday 17th April 2001.
March 24th
The Victoria Hall Trust have once again agreed to fund the radio station’s broadcast licence for the present year. Since the introduction of the licence from the Radio Authority 10 years ago the VHT have continued to sponsor the radio service.
We are indebted to the trustee’s and thank them for their continued support.
February 3rd
Radio Heatherwood celebrates 25 years of broadcasting this coming June.
This is a new opportunity for the station to look to the future with a look at Low Power Am and automated broadcasting.
New pages posted on this web site today explain where the station would like to be.
25 year celebrations will present the opportunity for the new premises to be officially opened and extra programs to be broadcast.
January
The station engineer put in extra hours over the Christmas break and work on the new studio complex is drawing to a close with work expected to be complete within the next few weeks.
On Monday 6th January the first programs from studio two were transmitted and this restores the radio station to two working studio’s This makes life easier for new trainee’s and helps us maintain on-air programs at all times.
